Ariana : it means "holy" in Hebrew comes from the names Ariel, Ariane, Arianna and lots of simular ones like that. however if your nick name is "Ari" it means Lioness of God. (so does Ariel)
OH! and the meanning comes from the language of Hebrew.

Ariane- Ariadna - "Most Holly" in Greek mythology she was present under Ariadne. Later over french to Ariane.
Ari - Most ; Hadnos - Holly
Similarity to Hebrew Ariel is , my personal opinion,is more a coincidence.

Ariana (and variants) was derived from Ariadne (Greek).

Ariel means "Lion of God" (Hebrew). We say "lioness" because it is often used as a feminine name in English.
