My name is Kara. I searched engine, google, for info. on my name, as well as this site. I found that Kara is Greek for Pure. (I found no info. about this on behindthename.com. I'd lime more information.

I did find on behindthename.com that Cara is Italian for beloved and Gaelic for friend.

Kara means Pure as you said and Greek and Danish

I hate to break the news, but...

Kara in Greek means either:
1. A tame goat
2. A human or animal head
If I were you, I would stick with the Italian or Gaelic meanings :p

Also...

...in contemporary Greek, the prefix "Kara-" also means "black," as per the Turkish word "kara". A common greek surname is "Karayiannis", meaning "Black John". This is also the etymology behind the name Karajan (as in Herbert von).
