This was a name given to a girl child. Her father was believed to be Irish (possibly Scotch-Irish or English-Irish) (His name was Downing). Her mother was supposedly of Welsh descent.I wonder if anyone knows the origin of this name?Thanks.

Have you got a date and place for this girl's birth? because it's not a Welsh or an Irish name so far as I know, and I suspect it's something more straightforward, like a combination of Elizabeth/Ellen/Ella and Linda...

Well, I only know a Welsh name, Elin. Could Ellinder maybe be a combination of Elin and an other name?
