My friend's name is Amalie. She said that her parents named her after a perfume. Does anyone know the origin and the meaning of her name?

Amalie perfume was a classic perfume available only from the St. Thomas Perfume Cmpany in the Virgin Islands. Very sensoal and musky, with a lovely feminine floral overtone. Unfortunately, the company no longer exists and the perfume is only avaiable from the occasional vintage bottle collector [or from grandma's attic on ebay]. I know these things because it was my signature scent for many years. The perfume was named for Charlotte Amalie. You can find lots of info on her on the net. You're welcome! :)
