As with any and ALL Japanese names, it depends on the kanji.

The hiragana could be the same as with other words, but the kanji would determine the EXACT translation (and sometimes vice versa.) The hiragana could translate into up to seven different meanings, but kanji usually has at the most three (I may be mistaken in that, though.) That is where the two combined come into play, to narrow it down to just ONE translation.
