Hello !
I was wondering about the etymology of this name...I suppose it comes from the two greek elements "sun" and "phorein", the last one meaning "to carry".
"Sun, syn" means "same", isn't it ?
But it doesn't really make sense...Any idea ?

To carry is "pherein" in Greek, but "phora" is indeed "carrying, movement, course, tribute" (like in "amphora", which means "both sides carry" because of the two handles)
"Syn" means "(together)with"
Now "symphero" is: to assemble, to help, to be useful, to be suitable
Does this make sense to you?
