I recently posted a request for help, but someone tagged on their own question about their name and my plea was 'kicked to the curb.'
I like what I have seen on this site otherwise. I think people are rather helpful with their suggestions.
I am hoping someone could take a stab at where they think my name comes from. I am female and the name is pronounced Ah-reek-shawn-ee

OK, I'll rise to the challenge! :-)
The simplest explanation is that your name is just a combo of Arik and Shawnie. Shawnie itself could be a nickname of Shawn (using the Scottish -ie diminutive) or an alteration of Shawnee, the Native American tribe. Wikipedia links to a site which reveals that the tribe's name is derived from Algonquin shawun (or shawunogi) "southerner"; the site is here: http://snipurl.com/cvgt.
