It could conceivably be related to the Greek surname Resos, or Rizos, which is derived from "riza" meaning root.

Thank you, Pavlos. Greek was what I was guessing, but only because of his first name (Jason.) I know that's Greek for sure, so you could be right.
Only one way to find out... ask him! LOL But I don't think I'll get that chance.
