What is the most common first name in Africa
I am working on a contact database for AIDS research in Malawi Africa and want to enter a sample entry but don't want to use John Smith because...well...obviously...
Anyone know of a way to get some common names listings for this part of the world?
Please email me directly at fiona@web.net with your suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
Fiona

Hey Fiona,
I've had no previous exposure to things Malawian, but just looking at a coupla articles on the Net, it looks like they tend to use English first names (Charles, Dan, Bob, etc.) and African last names (probably in the Chichewa language). So picking a first name like "Joseph" would work.
As for Africa in general, I'd be inclined to think that "Mohammed" in its various spellings was the most common first name.
