The name Som, i think its for Sri Lanka or somewhere in Asia. Can someone tell if its hort for something, if so what, and what does it mean? many thank, K

Som etymology: (Kirghiz= a member of a Turkic people of Kyrgyzstan and adjacent areas of central Asia)

meaning: crude iron casting, ruble

Possibly there is a relation of the name Som to the name Soma which has Indian origins meaning "moon."
