My wife and I named one of our daughters GEOLINE (pronounced Gay-o-leen' or Gay-o-leen'-a) in honour of my wife's grandmother. Although Geoline was a fairly common name among Norwegian-Americans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it has pretty well died out now. Checking with relations in Norway, the name is unheard of there. Any ideas about the origin of the name?
