Hi there: Was browsing the web and came upon your question. My "maiden" name was Yasney, and my sister's name is Barbara...
As far as I know, Yasney originated from the Russian (and possibly Polish) word for "light" or "bright"...something like "yasnaya". I'd love to know what else you've heard and what your family background is. My dad was born in the city of Lodz in Poland and moved to Paterson NJ (via Ellis Island) in 1922. Regards, Sandra
