Naum/Naoum (the slavic version of Nahum) of Preslav was the name of a prominent 9th century educator. He was one of the students of Cyril and Methodius who created the Cyrillic alphabet, and "worked" in the lands that are today Bulgaria and Macedonia. His grave is in the St Naum Monastery in Ohrid, FYR Macedonia and according to the legend, when you lean over it (the grave) if you are a good person you can hear the heart of St Naoum beating (I heard it :). My point is - Naum of Preslav and his comrade Kliment of Ohrid are highly revered in Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia (and the names are still "popular"), so it does make sense to derive your name from Naum.
