My best friend is expecting a girl and she wants to her Abigail Grace, but her mother-in-law is insisting on having Kelly in the name somewhere.
Here are the choices:
Abigail Kelly
Abigail Grace Kelly (she isn't wild about that one, thinking people will think it's after the actress, which it wouldn't be)
Abigail Kelly Grace

Any suggestions?

Buy a rabid mastiff. Name the dog "Kelly". Sic it on the pushy mother-in-law. ..

I vote with everyone else here. Tell your friend to ignore her mother-in-law and name the baby whatever she wants.

Tell the mother-in-law to butt out, and name the child Abigail Grace. Which in my opinion go together beautifully. Adding Kelly or subbing it in there makes the name sound unsmooth. I know that's not a word, but you get what I'm saying. :) Why is the mother-in-law insisting that Kelly be added, anyways?

The reason she wants Kelly in the name is because it has been that way for, something like, three or four generations.
I'll be sure to tell my friend that she should stick with Abigail Grace.

Please God let me never be such an interfering mother-in-law! I hope your friend stops the three or four generation tradition now before her daughter is put in a similar predicament when choosing the names of her children.

Tell your MIL that, if she wants to name a child Kelly because it's been a tradition for four generations, she should either adopt a child or have another one of her own and butt out of the naming.
