please don't use babynamesworld
That site is highly inaccurate when it comes to meanings, they (as many babyname sites) like to 'nice up' some of the meanings, so if you want a reliable meaning/origin, i suggest sticking to this site..

It's a variation of the name Alice(meaning "noble"). Hope that helps!
Ive bean told its the name of an anchiant princessgoddes warior or an femanin english name and now bean told its an noble german name. Mutch thanks but am seeking more detail about my name
I have never heard of an ancient princess, goddess or warrior by the name of Alison / Allison. Since it is a mediaeval name, there won't have been any "ancient" Alisons.
Allison is not a noble German name. It is a mediaeval French (and English) form of Alice, which is from the Germanic root word
"adal" which means noble.
