Has anyone ever heard the name 'Shrilda'?
I have only seen this name twice in my life time.
My girlfriend's name is Shrilda and I was just wondering
if anyone knew any history about this name.

What is Shrilda's ethnic background and has she asked her parents where they got the name?

Shrilda's family background is German and Dutch. Also has a very strong Indian family history. Since her mother has long since passed away, she never really got a chance to ask her where she got the name.

p.s. I wonder if it's related to the Germanic name Hilda....

.....which this site says is derived from the German element "hild" (battle). Shrilda seems to have been a fairly common name in the U.S. 50 to 100 years ago.
