No, the idea of lifemates is not pagan. People can be married and lifemates, some can be involved in what can be termed "common law marriages" and be lifemates some lifemates are involved in situations that they cannot be in either "real" marriages or "common law marriages" (members of the homosexual community fall under that catagory).
