Origin/Meaning of the name Sabria
My wife had a great-grandmother whose first name was Sabria. I know it is a very old name and believe it is of either Irish or English descent. I have looked through many websites and not found it listed anywhere. We intend to name our firstborn girl Sabria and thought it would be nice to know its meaning and history. Any help would be appreciated.

My name is Sabria and I don't know what it means myself. However, when I was stationed in Greece, the local nationals were familiar with my name. It is a name from Cyprus. I have also met east Indians and Iraqians who were also familiar with the name.
If you have learned the derivation of my name by now, please inform me.
By the way, how old is your daughter?Sabria Epps Sheets

Try these two websites, John. They concur on the meaning of the name as being: "from the island of Cyprus".http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1739/ci-cz_names.htmlhttp://lissy.itgo.com/c.html-- Nanaea
