Off-Topic Folk Music Quizlet
This is a smart bunch of folks, what hang out here. Ya know Esperanto. Ya know 250 rhyming baby names that begin with X. Ya know anagrams. Like me, ya don't know when to shut up. But do ya know Folk Music?
The following mini-quiz is something I thought of while making my weekly drive across the Smokies. When you're not in terror of the trucks, rockslides, and black ice, ya can let your mind wander there.
So here are three things, each associated with a popular folk song (two of them post-1950, all very well known). Can ya guess the songs?
1) Group W (not the broadcasting company)
2) George O'Brien
3) Statesville, NC (the very town with the Hecate mural, unrelated to this)
Good luck!

Oh man... Try to sleep late on weekends, and you find some caballero waking you up with folk song trivia questions... Oh, aaaall right! :)
I dunno the titles, but is it okay if I hum a few bars?
1) Group W (not the broadcasting company)
"Group W, yeah, Group double-yoo, I love that firm, Group W;
They're badass lawyers, man, it's true,
They'll snatch your stash, before they sue."
2) George O'Brien
"Geooooooorge O'Brien! Yeah! He's a pal o' CheBanana's --
Sells cigar butts to midgets as king-sized Havanas."
3) Statesville, NC (the very town with the Hecate mural, unrelated to this)
"Statesville! Statesville! Good golly, that's my HOME!
If only it were Statesvillellivsetats,
It'd be a palindrome."

All wrong but very creative. For your effort you'll receive a copy of the hit seasonal CD, "Keith Flint and Aphex Twin: Home for the Holidays".
Aiiiiiiiiiii!
Who says you're not Satanic? :)

Come On, People! Two of These Are Kingston Trio Songs! (They Ask, " Who're The Kingston Trio?" Oh, The Horror!)
I know diddly squat about Folk music, even though I really enjoy the sounds. One of the songs is probably Robbie Fulks's "Cold Statesville Ground", as my friend Google divulged. But let me refrain from being a smart alec-sandros by answering stuff Im not really in to.
My own mini quiz: who was the original CheBanana?

Sorry, that's not the song. The one I'm thinking of is better known than that and "Statesville" doesn't appears in the lyrics or title, even tho some of the happenings in the song occurred there.
The other two quiz phrases both appear in the respective song lyrics, and have some significance to the song.
CheBanana is either some kind of Norwegian kid's book figure (babanoppror?) or is the hideous hag Cheba Nana, the legendary witch parents used to scare children with in the forests of Karelia.
