I like Albany as a girls' name, as it's a placename with some meaning to me. I know that in the case of Albany near London, the pronunciation is AWL-bun-ee, i.e. with the first syllable pronounced like "all". But I believe there are other places called Albany in the States, and I wanted to check if this pronunciation is still AWL-bun-ee (as opposed to AL-bun-ee with a short "a"), to avoid confusion. Does anyone know?
