female wants a male name

i am a female who wants a male name. it is truly a man's name: the Finnish variation of Simon (Simo). I knew this guy who had it, and have always loved it. What are your thoughts?

Unless you live in Helsinki or extreme northern Michigan, it's unlikely you'll encounter anyone who would peg Simo as a male name. There's been a confusing tendency in some circles in the US for females to adopt or be given obviously male names (like Michael, Sean, Darryl), but I can't see that Simo would cause anyone confusion if you used it, especially since it probably sounds a lot like known female names like Simone.- Da.
