Tipperary, Ireland Names
There is a barony in south Tipperary County, Ireland, called
Iffa and Offa West. Does anyone know what the name
Iffa and Offa means? There was a Saxon king named
Offa, but I am not sure if the barony name refers to
this Offa. I have no clue what Iffa refers too, but
it sounds like a feminine name. I have been trying to
figure this one out for over 5 years!!!

See if you can...
Get hold of a copy of one of the many books on Irish place names. Failing that, see if you can find older versions of the name in records.

Hi Rourke,
I came across the name Offa, which is an Old Swedish short form of Old Norse names ending on -ulf like Stenulf or Grimulf. The suffix means "wolf".

It's also the name of a few Old English kings. :-)
