Nevio
Does anybody know the meaning of the Italian name Nevio (for a boy)?
Thanks, Barbara

The Italian masculine name of "Nevio" comes from the Latin name of the ancient Roman gens: "Naevius". A notable member of this gens was the Roman poet Gnaeus Naevius, who lived in the 3rd century B.C.E.
The Latin word "naevus" (from which the gens name of Naevius is presumably derived) means "a mole" (the kind that appears on the human body as a skin blemish). Many Roman names described physical attributes -- not always complimentary.
