there was a message posted in April 2003 with this same question, no good response.
This is an African (Senegalese) name, used for boy or girl, often seen "Fatou Kine" for a girl.
I am looking for the meaning.

I have just married a man from Senegal. He is from the northern section of the country. His family is extremely large, and a kingship family from that region. Can you tell what the last name Ndiaye means, and the middle name Fary? Thank you.

I think Fatou is a pet form of Fatoumata, an African Muslim name meaning (I think) 'woman'.
