Popularity of AMON and AMNON?
I'm working on an article about the Arabic name AMIN and its Hebrew "brothers" AMON and AMNON. Now I'd like to know:1. How popular are theses two names in modern Israel?2. What about other countries? The US? - This site says: no popularities for either of them. What do you folks say?Andy ;—)

Amnon is pretty common in Israel but is no longer popular as a baby name. Most Amnons would be well over 30. Amon is virtually unheard of as a first name.

I can't help about Amin...
As for the other, I've just check my extended family tree, and there's no one with that name, be it in Israel or in Diasporah, nowadays or 500 years ago... Imo Amon wasn't a very good or very important king, so it may explain why the name isn't used, just like I dunno... Dathan for example.
Moreover Amon is an Egyptian deity and most Jews wouldn't want their kids associated with it.Check: http://www.reference-guides.com/isbe/A/AMON/

I hope it helps!
