Does anyone have any information on the name Amber. I've read that it's originaly french meaning "A Jewel" but this website says it's English..

Any ideas?

Amber is a word used as a name - like Rose or Hope. And amber is a very beautiful fossilised resin used in jewellery. That is probably where the confusion started.

"amber" in French doesn't mean anything... "ambre" means "amber".
