Camille
We have a new (male) French transfer student named Camille. He pronounces it ka-mee, not the American ka-MEEL way (obviously, considering he's French ... *doh*) Anyway, one the first things he said when introducing himself was, "It's a girl's name, but never mind." (He laughed while saying it - so I don't think he's actually losing sleep over that.)
Anyway, I was curious - in France, is the name predominantly male or female? Just out of interest.

Very predominantly female. :)

As you mentioned, it is predominatley female, but I would find it more interesting on a male (as with many other unisex names). However, since Camille is truly unisex, I don't mind seeing it on a girl though.

Whoa, I just checked the popularity rankings, and obviously it's predominantly female there:http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=camille&popterm=fr&gender=both&extra=p
