Just pointing this thread out.
Personally, I'll reiterate that I like the name Amanda, despite our troll. I'll add that I think it's sweet and feminine, but not frilly. It's very old too (first appeared in 1221, probably), which for me adds a lot of substance and charm.
'Course, my liking of it may come from its resemblance to my own name, which I like very much. ;-)
