Walter/Wyatt
Would it work to use Wyatt in honor of Walter? I really hate the name Walter but my SO is so important to me. He has helped me through a lot, that even if we broke up without getting married, he would still be my best friend, and he is still someone I would like to honor. Harold is his middle name, which is even worse in my eyes. I am tempted to just use Walter as a middle name, since his parents took two different great relatives and came up with Walter Harold, I would feel like I am butchering their family history. Thats a good point I just made. Any suggestions?
I have also thought of maybe using a different fn with the same nn Walt, but only thought of Walton, which I dont like the name, and its also the last name of my ninth grade gym teacher, who I didnt care for.

I much prefer Walter over Wyatt. I do, however,
think it would be fine to use it as a middle name.

I actually like Wyatt better than Walter. Walter seems very stiff. Wyatt seems very cowboy, that's true. what is an SO? I actually don't like Harold either. It makes me think of Harold and the Purple Crayon or an old man being nagged by his wife. I suggest you just use the same initials W. H. and forget the actual names. Or if you want to honor him without using his names, ask him to be the godfather.
SO is significant other...
I'm the opposite - I love Walter and find Wyatt far too cowboy-like to take seriously. Harold was the name of a boy in my class when I was a kid so although I'm not overly fond of it I guess I'm used to it.
If you really want to honour him I would use Walter as a mn. Wyatt doesn't have anything to do with Walter in my mind.
