Perpetua?
WDYTO it? I've realized that I'm more fond of it than Persephone, which gets thrown about rather often around here, but it seems about as usable--and it's a saint's name, which always appeals to me. Pronunciation is per-PEH-choo-ah in my accent, and I think Peppi, Pettie, Pippi, etc, would be nice nn's. :)Thanks!Array

A "perpetua" in Italian is a woman - usually pretty old - who acts as governess for priests.
The name came from Alessandro Manzoni's "The Betrothed" - she was a noisy, bossy character.

I don't mind it in theory, but I'd prefer it as a mn because the "pet" and "perp" (as in 'perpetrator') sounds bother me. :-/

I like it. It reminds me of the bitchy Perpetua in Bridget Jones, but she's not even a main character - I'd quickly get over that if I met another :-)ETA: Peppi as a pet form is awesome.

All I can think...Is that she'd be one of those people who'd just go on and on and on....

While it may not be my style personally, it just has this...quality, for lack of a better word, that is just neat. And it seems like an "Array" name to me. (Yes, there's now names that I think of as "Array" names. How I do so is if I see a name, sometimes I'll go 'Ooh, Array would love that.')Perpetua seems like it would fit with some of the other names I've seen you use.

Love it. Have you seen, "Bridget Jones' Diary?" There's a minor character named Perpetua. It made me fall for the name big time.I'll see your Perpetua, and raise you an Immaculata.

lolthat's where I heard it for the first time :) I don't really like the name though, but it was the first thing I had to think of just now when I read it haha :p

Off topicI was over at wikipedia doing a search when I came across a name you might like for a boy: Anaximander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaximander).I suppose it reminded me of Ruxandra. I know the two names are etymologically worlds apart. But I thought I'd pass it along before I forgot all about it. Enjoy. Or not.

I've liked it since I first heard it about St. Perpetua's journal on From Jesus to Christ. It's one of my favorite female saints' names. It's different without being too out there.

Hm. Well, you know my feelings on Persephone, so of course I prefer that anyway, but feelings aside, I'm not really feeling Perpetua. I want to see it per-PEH-too-uh, since that's how I always said it in discussion, and especially since the CH prn makes me think of perpetual, which isn't really bad, but not my cup of tea. Oh, and it really makes me want to give her a sister named Felicity. :\ If you stay keen on the name, I do agree with the NNs, though. :)
