Re: Genesis...WDYT?

Well, to be perfectly honest...not meaning to be harsh but this is what I think of it. Although I know it's a generic word for the beginning or creation of anything, in non-Biblical contexts it is a bit of a technical term, and not suitable as a name. The big problem I have with it is that, in the contemporary US where I am anyway, it tangentially suggests a fundamentalist creationist belief. I think in the current climate that's a very controversial concept to address or suggest in a person's name, even if it's just inadvertently because you think the word sounds pretty. I would not much relish addressing a woman as "Genesis."
At any rate it's too fanciful for me. I figure that most often, it's used as an attempt to be more unusual than Genevieve or Ginevra or Geneva, while keeping a lot of the appealing sound (although it adds an unfortunate hissing syllable at the end). At least it nicknames to Genny.
