I love Jesse on a boy. Like Sabrina Fair, I think of Bridge to Terabithia. I've only ever seen Jessie on a girl, and only once did I see it used as a given name. The rest of the time it's a nn for Jessica. I don't see a problem with it, I think it's a great boys' name.
