Dakota
WDYT of the name Dakota? It is beginning to grow on me (for a boy), but I'd like to know what others think of it.
For a possible combo: Dakota Ethan
(I really like the name Ethan, but it's too popular for a first name, IMO)

I don't really like it but I prefer it on a boy.
It's tacky to me. The kind of wannabe-western name that parents give who have never been out West, never been out in the country, never met an actual Indian but think they're being all multicultural. *rolls eyes*
You very rarely see actual Indians giving their kids the names of tribes. Same as you don't see white people calling their kids Russian or English.

Actually. . .

Heh. I agree with you completely, but it is ironic that this was today. :)

ah actually I saw a little white girl named English, and one spelled Englysh, it was odd. You do make a lot of sense though.
I like it only for a girl.
It's an Indian tribe...
Not a personal name.

Dakota Ethan is beautiful
I really dislike it because it is a word to me (the state).
Beyond that, Dakota Ethan sounds nice enough I guess. And I would prefer it on a boy then a girl.

I like Dakota a lot!

It sounds girly, but I guess it could go both ways. You just have to pair it with a very feminine or masculine mn, whichever way you go.
Dakota Ethan sounds nice, but still a little girly.

Either, but it sounds more boyish to me
But Dakota--like other Native American tribe names--seems like naming your kid French or Canadian to me, so I dislike it for either gender.

I also like the name Ethan, however.
I. Cannot. Stand. It.
Yes. That.
That about sums up my feelings, too.
