What do you think of the name Meredith?

I think it's a fine name. I wouldn't use it, but it's nice.
Girl only, please.

I like it for a boy.

I like it.
I like it, on a girl that is.
I think it's wonderful.
I don't like it. I've had some bad associations with it. Every Meredith I've known has been fake and annoying, to be perfectly honest. Not something I'd use, but that's just me.
I love Meredith. It's very underused where I live, and it's just so pretty and gentle sounding.
Adore it. Something about the sound is lovely to me. I think I'm in the minority on this one, however! I actually like it better on a female than a male, but I'd love to see either one.
I prefer it for a boy (but I am in the minority), however it's ok for a girl.
It was one of the those names that could have gone either way for me, Jocelyn and Vivian (prefer for a boy) and Joyce and Florence (prefer for a girl) are others examples and, like Evelyn, Christian and Julian, I'll probably like it for both eventually (usually when I find the right combo, Charles Meredith is what swung it to the boys for me, it could easily have been Isabel Meredith.)

I don't care for it. The th ending has never appealed to me at all, and the name conjures up an image of a rich, overly self-assured, somewhat manipulative girl in an exclusive private school who has always had everything exactly as she wants it becaause of her daddy's money and her own looks and "charm."
I know it has occasionally been used as a boy's name, but the Mary sound in it makes this much too feminine to give a boy.

Never liked it myself.
Ditto
I have alway's liked the name Meredith. It sounds sweet and simple. It's a very pretty name for all ages.
For a female, I dislike it.
It just has a valley girl feel to it. For a boy, I find it sweet - though I understand it couldn't work in today's world.

Kind of agree...(m)
It does have that valley girl feel to it. I still sort of like it (for someone else's daughter kind of thing).
I also love it for a boy, and am one for naming boys with more feminine names. A masucline name that is seen now as feminine doesnt discourage me from wanting to use it (although the DH might).

Like it a lot.
It makes me think of the ocean. I also tend to love names that have a "th" sound at the end.

i have mixed feelings. it sounds kind of hard, but i like it. for me, it depends on who it belongs to.
