Camilla
I like this name a lot but...in England the first what people say hereing it is 'Camilla? like the Duchess of Cornwall, wife of Prince Charles...hmmm'.
How bad is this association with her? should I quit even thinking about it?
Do you like the name? If the duchess's name was XYZ, would you like it then?
Cammila, Camille, Camila, Camile, Kamilla, Kamile..help

I'm in the US and don't think of the Dutchess when I hear the name. I think Camilla is classy and very pretty, and I also adore Camille. Please don't change the spelling. Camilla is beautiful as it is.

I live in England and yes it is the first thing i think put thats because she's such a famous Camilla. I personally don't see it as a bad association, but i know others would. However i see it as only a first thought, and something people wouldn't think of after meeting the person. If you see this as a problem though how about Camille, i personally prefer it and love the nn Cami btw

Well I really dislike Prince Charles wife (him too for that matter)and it put me off the name Camilla for a while, but now the association doesnt particularly bother me after all I am sure there are plenty of nice Camillas out there.

well..but do you think it can put a littel girl on a lost position becouse of a negative asssociation with the Duchess? could she be bullieng for that? Do you think if I decided to name my doughter taht was I would have to here a lot of 'duchess' coments?

I dont think she would be bullied because she happened to share her name with the Duchess. To be frank very few people are interested to that extent in the royals especially children who wouldnt know about old scandals and would be more interested in the latest book sensations, footballers or soap story lines.

I prefer Camille as a middle name. One reason why I don't like Camilla is because Grant had a one night stand with a girl with this name (before he met me)

The Duchess of Cornwall isn't the first person who comes to mind when I hear the name because there are quite a few girls round here called Camilla. However, I wouldn't use it in case anyone did associate it with the Duchess. I don't particularly like her, but I wouldn't waste time and energy building it up into a strong dislike. I'd rather just avoid anything to do with her, and the rest of the royal family for that matter. I much prefer Camila or Kamila pronounced kah-MEE-lah with the nn Mila.

I'm not crazy about Camilla and the first one that comes to mind for me is the Duchess of Cornwall. I'm not too fond of her so that might be part of my dislike for the name. Then again I also don't really like the sound of Camilla.
However I do really like Camille.
