Colby
The other day, a girl I know mentioned she liked the name Colby for a little girl. What do you think? I've been trying to come up with middle names:Colby Scarlett
Colby Alyssa
Colby Anne
Colby Michelle
Colby MichaelaAny other middle name suggestions?

My little sister had a friend in elementary school named Colby. He was a boy. My dad always called him "Colby the Cheese," haha. Despite the fact that I don't like the name in general, I really don't like it on a girl.

I have a little cousin named Colby and he is always made fun of in reference to the cheese. Plus I don't like it as a girls name at all.

I think it's bad enough for a boy but horrid for a girl. The only time I've heard it on a girl is the teenage character currently on "All My Children". If I'm not mistaken, her mother's maiden name was Colby.

I really like Colby for either a girl or a boy.

I grew up with a Colby - a boyThe name is therefore irreversibly masculine to me, particularly because Colby grew up to be such a hunk! No, not a hunk of cheese, either. ;p

I like Colby on a boy, and although I tend to not hate boys names on girls as much as most people do, I think this name should not be given to a girl...Ok, in the eventually a little girl was named it, the mn should be obviously feminine. Of the ones you came up with I think Alyssa and Michelle work the best.

It's a cheese, and I like it on a boy only

Meh. It's not got sufficient history as a boys' name (not in Scotland, anyway, where it has none) to feel totally out of synch on a female. But it's so cutesy. I have a hard time picturing an adult, of either sex, called Colby.Colby Scarlett gmv, followed by Colby Alyssa. I dislike Colby Anne - the style of Anne is just too different and the names seem silly side by side.

Please no! It's alright for a boy, though trendy, but for a girl... Not good. Especially with those mns :-/If you really do like it, though, I'd pair it with something less 'now', like...Colby Zara
Colby Lark
Colby Evelina
Colby Veronica
Colby Viola
Colby Jasmine
Colby Ophelia
Colby Rosemary
Colby Willow
Colby Taryn
Colby Gisele
Colby Honor
Colby Fern
Colby Twilight
Colby Phoebe
Colby Eshe
Colby Eleanor-Lulu

I can barely accept it as a boys name. :-(Colby Michaela isn't bad, that spelling only.

Well, I prefer it as a name for cheese, butif it must be given to a human, I'd suggest only the male variety.

Colby for a girl rubs me the wrong way.

When taken out of the context of cheeseI still think of it as only a man's name. Of those middle names I like Anne the most, followed maybe by Michaela with that spelling only, but I don't like anything paired up with Colby for a girl.

DittoI really can only think of cheese, but if I didnt, I would instantly think boy.

CheeseI seriously do not get the appeal of Brie and Colby as names.

My sister's boyfriend's brother's (wow) name is Colby. I don't really like it, and it doesn't suit him at all. On a girl, however, it's awful. I can at least tolerate it on a boy. =/

I agree, it is a type of cheese not a name. I have the same issue with the name Brie.Perhaps if she were to spell is Kolbe (as in the surname of the famous Maximillian Kolbe) it wouldn't be so bad... THen again, Kolbe really does look a little too creative for my tastes.Eitherway I don't think it's a very nice name.

I do not like this name for a girl. However, I love it for a little boy. I know many people think of the cheese, but I still like it. I always liked Koby :) But if she absolutely must use it for a girl, then based on your list I like Colby Anne. But I would much rather see this name on a boy than a girl. But thats just my opinion.
