Gabriel is a gorgeous name! I never thought of it as a filler name myself, I must say.

I LOVE Gabriel, as either a first name or a middle name. How is it filler?

If I could I would add this to my favorites list. But...I remember a couple annoying guys from high school with Gabriel as either a first name or a last name. The memory lingers, so...I'd say no personally. I'd pick Rasul, if I'm really into the "messenger of God" meaning.

LOVE IT. Gabriel is currently my #1 boy name.

I don't think of it as filler; it's just a very popular name in general. Personally, I don't especially care for it. I find the "Gabe" sound unappealing.

Huh? Gabriel is a filler name to you? Well, whodathunkit. I've known only one male in my life with Gabriel as a mn, and he actually chose to go by Gabriel b/c he liked it so much better than his fn (Thomas, I believe). Actually, that Gabe was the only one I've ever met IRL, period. I'd put Allen in the filler mn category for guys, but never Gabriel.

I have never thought of Gabriel as a filler mn. 1) I've never heard it as a mn. 2) I dont think it goes with anything and 3) I assiociate filler mn more with girls, since boy mn seem to have a wider range.

Gabriel is a great name, first or mn. I do agree I really dont like the nn Gabe, but after meeting a guy who insisted on Gabe, I grew to tolerate it in respect for him.

I like Gabriel but I don't see it as a filler mn. I don't know of anyone with the mn Gabriel.

I love it, and would definitely use it as a fn if it didn't have such a strong religious association. Which is why I would use it as a mn, where the religious reference wouldn't bug me so much. It is a strong and not so common name and so handsome.

I want to like it, but I just never have. I strongly dislike the NN Gabe, and I find the whole name just too fussy. It is probably due to the fact that I have known quite a few Gabriels, and they've all been holy terrors, so I don't know. I just can't get on board.

I love it and it's high on my list of names for my second son.

I'd never use Gabriel but I think it's a nice name. Sorry for being so brief, but that's just what Gabriel is to me - a nice name; no more, no less :)
