Irish Names
I've been giving quite a few Irish names some thought over the past few days...weeks?..and I was curious as to which 'traditional' Irish names other people liked as well. I've been through the BtN pages countless times, but some just seem to be too Irish for the States, you know? Which names do you both like and could see on a child in both Ireland and the US?Also, I stumbled across Kane (also Irish, surprise...). Wdyt? And though Shannon comes up as English, I've always considered it Irish, and I dislike it very much. I don't know what it is. Probably too many bad associations. Thanks in advance. :)Edit - Shannon comment.

First I made a list of Irish names that I see pretty popular here in the United States. Also, then I listed my favorites from that list. Also I know some of the names are unisex but I put the gender by it which I feel is more of the used gender of the name here in the United States. This is all opinion based only :)Aidan M

I live in the US, but my parents are from Ireland. I've grown up loving many Irish names. These are my favorites:Niamh, Aoife, Sinead, Mairead, Emer, Fionnuala / Finola, Oonagh, Aislinn / Aisling, Eileen, Maureen, Deirdre, Isolde, Siobhan;Desmond, Cormac, Malachy, Tadhg, Niall, Finbarr, Eamonn, Diarmuid / Dermot, Aidan, Padraig / Patrick, Conor, Ciaran, Seamus, Ulick*, Liam, Rory, Ronan.
* I love the name Ulick. But "you-lick" would never work here in the US.
