I like it, though it may be a little too "hippy-ish" or 'out there' for many as a fn. I like Maggie as a nn, but I like Nola even better (giving credit to Array here).

I have met a baby girl named Magnolia nn Maggie. She is a triplet--her sister is Millicent nn Millie and her brother is Maddox.

I know a Magnolia "Maggie." She introduces herself as Maggie, but I don't think she's too ashamed of her name, haha.

I love the name Magnolia. But personally I always liked it as a middle name. But I think it would make a pretty first name :)

I love it. It's definitely unusual and a bit old-fashioned to me, but I think the many nickname options make it usable.

I think it's pretty, but knowing that the whole name is also the whole name of a plant gives it a little hint of cheesiness to me. That's such a random piece of information, though, that I highly doubt you'd have a lot of people noticing. And I love Jane anyway. :-)

I don't really like Maggie--I'm so used to people giving the name to their dogs, plus I think it's a bit dull--but the suggestions of Nola have sounded appealing to me.

1. Yes, it is unusual, but not so much as to render it unusable.
2. Not really. It is a mouthful, but so are Evangeline or Penelope, and most would agree that they are usable.

That being said, it's not my favorite name, and I think Maggie is just boring and sort of ruins it. Nola would be a much better NN imo.

I really like it, but prefer the nn Nola (though I do love Maggie).

I think it'll be easy to grow into; I tend to think of elderly women with the names "Maggie"

Do you find it very unusual? I do indeed.
Do you think it would be a hard name to grow up with for any reason? I see a bit of teasing potential but that is only because, like I said, it's an unusual name.
Does it sound too old-fashioned? It does to me, yes.
The combo would probably be Magnolia Jane from my mom's middle name. Jane is a little tired as a mn but I love it all the same and it's not a bad combo.
