Thoughts on Curtis?
Just something that's been in my head a few days. Just wanting opinions, thoughts, all that on Curtis.

Yuck.
It's got a slightly redneck feel to it for me. It's also the name of my uncle - and I have a really odd relationship with him. So: No.

Oooh, pick me!
My 11-year-old nephew is named Curtis Scott Lastname. So I'm a little partial. :b He was named after a family friend, and it took my parents and I a bit of time to warm to the name. But from the moment we found out he was a boy (while my sister was pregnant), we called him Curtis so we really liked it and associated it with him by the time he was born. :) He doesn't have any problems with it at school, yet, except occasionally being called Dirt-is. But he's not dirty, so it's just a silly thing. Kids can make fun of anything, I guess. We sometimes call him Curt, but he's mostly Curtis.
I love the name now, and I highly recommend to people. It's recognizable but not overused. Pretty easy to spell (though occasionally he gets Kurtis/Kurt). It's handsome, and masculine, and means "courteous" which our Curtis happens to be. :)
Not sure where you are, but we're in the U.S. (in FL) and since our Curtis was born it was brought to our attention that there are a lot of black men--esp. in their 20s-40s--named Curtis. Doesn't bother him or anyone of us in the least, we just weren't aware of it, and found it quite interesting. :b Fifty Cent, the rapper, his real name is Curtis, btw.

Alcoholic trailer park guy with a screaching home-bound wife and 7 kids, some of them his, some of them not... who knows.
Were I writing a story... that character would be named Curtis.

LOVE it!
It is an unpleasant sound to me. It kind of sounds like a cough or a name of a disease, you know "I can't come into work, I have Curtis"
This made me laugh :b
Some personally connections
Curtis has been on and off for me lately.
I went to elementary and junior high with a boy Curt (shortened I believe, but not positive). Around the time I was graduating high school, a friend, who lived down the street from Curt mentioned him and I wasnt aware he was still in town. Turns out he was in and out of protected services.
If I dont think of him - I think of Home Improvement. If you've watched the show, you may remember an annoying boy Randy's age during the early years whose name was Curtis.
However, IF I dont think of either of these (which sometimes I dont) I think its a really cute name, I dont like Curt (it sounds really harsh to me). Curtis is really nice though.

Cowboy
I really hate it, sorry. It's too, well, curt.
Love it, particularly for a mn!
I rather like Curtis. It's geeky, but in a cute, quirky way.
I think Curtis is a good strong name.
Two years ago in my school, we had this thing called the Math Fair where we had to make math games and second graders came to our school to play the games. There was this adorable little boy name Curtis that came: big, blue eyes and curly brown hair. My friend was wearing a big pink boa for some reason and he went up to her and said in this sweet little voice, "I like your b-b-boa." He was SO cute. The best part was that his mom dressed him up (more than he needed to at all) because he was coming to the Fair, so he looked like a little gentleman. :)
So, yeah, that's my first reaction. I like it a lot, but I don't know if it's something I'd use myself because I don't like the nn Curt.

I really dislike it, but I love Kurt.
