Rose...
Am I the only person in the world who hates this name? I find it to be priggish, pretentious, and old-ladyish. I grimace when I hear this name, and to a lesser extent, names that include/mean Rose, like Rosemarie or Rois.

I like Rose but only as a middle name.

Sorry, but I love Rose. I think it elegant and natural, and I like Rosetta, Rosamund and Rosemary as well. That doesn't make you crazy, though. There are lots of names that most people like that are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I adore Rose. I think it's a beautiful, classic name I've recently began to like even more. I don't really like other "Rose-" names like Rosalind or Rosalie, except Rosemary and Rosette which I adore as well. The only time I dislike Rose is when it's used as a MN because it's so overused.

I love Rose, probably because Rosa is my first middle name. I love Rosalie, Rosalind (the name of one of my guinea pigs) Rosemarie and plenty other names. I have never thought of it as old and it has a delicate touch without being cutsey. It ages very well too.

I personally don't join you in this opoinion. I like Rose, just not for a first name. And names meaning/including Rose I would use for a first name. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who hate Rose.

Of course you aren't--there are probably plenty of other people who think Rose is hideous, just like there are surely others who agree with me that Anna is an unfortunate little name. They just aren't here.I love Rose and various Ros- names (most specifically Roswitha right now), personally.Array

I don't like Rose either, I can handle it a little better as a mn. The only "Rose" names I like are Rosa and Rosalie.

I adore the name Rose and may very well use it on a future child. However, I absolutely loathe the name Grace, which is very popular at the moment. I find it extremely precious and the sound is hideously unattractive to my ears, and I have yet to find anyone who hates the name as much as I do. So I can sympathize somewhat.

As a mn, it's not bad, but I would never use it for a fn.

I think it's boring and obvious.I guess it's similar to why I would much prefer someone give me a bouquet of freesia or mixed wildflowers to the wildly overdone dozen roses. Just BLAH.

I would only use Rose for a mn.

Each to his / her own, I think Rose is beautiful elegant and feminine without being cutsy or twee and I love names like Rosemary Rosamund and Rosalind :)
