I love both Mary and Ella and they would make a sweet sibling set. I think Ella can stand on its own, but traditionally it was a nn for Elizabeth. Others:
Ellen / Helen / Helena
Eleanor / Eleanora
anything ending in "-ella" like Gabriella, Isabella, Antonella, Petronella, Arabella, Estella, etc.
Elsa
Elvira ("el-VEER-a")
Elva
Eloise / Eloisa
Eliane / Eliana
Elfrieda / Elfreda
It's so nice to see someone considering Mary for a dd. While it was overly used in the past, this next generation could use a few more.
