German names - WDYT
Hi there! After a phase where i just liked unusual names like Neyla,Kiron etc. I am starting to consider old German names for our baby. We're still trying to conceive (going on 2 years now)... Our last name is KOLB - we live in Germany. He is part Asian, part German. I am part American (native + irish origin) and part German.
Here are some names that my fiancee (marriage is in july! *yeah*) suggested:
EMIL: "ey-meal"
FRIEDRICH - "freed-reech" (but a German ch no J!!)
NOAH - my finace's Number ONE!
BEN
PAUL - "Pah-oul" (kinda like Raoul in Spanish, just that the aou floats better)
FABIAN - "fah-bee-ahn"
Louisa (my Fave) (after my grandmother)
Emma
Kalea (ok not really German *gg*) - my finace's Numer ONE!
Helena
And wdyt about those combos:
Louisa Mailin ("My-leen")
Emma Louise
Kalea Lina (Lina would be the grandmother)
Helena Louise
And I just can't think of good middle names for the boys' names...Except for Noah Matteo (dad's name is Matthias)
So WDYT?
Thanks

EMIL: I LOVE this name. Very good choice.
FRIEDRICH: I don't like this one, but only because it doesn't flow well of my tongue. Also, I think a nn would be in order for this name.
NOAH: I like this, but all I think of it lots of water.
BEN: I like this name, love it if used as a nn for Benjamin.
PAUL: This is okay, but I don't love it.
FABIAN: I like this name, but someone told me it reminded them of Fabio, if that bothers you at all.
Louisa: Good solid classic name, nice.
Emma: I like this name, but all the 2000-2007 mothers have named their daughter this.
Kalea (ok not really German *gg*): This is nice, but think about future children and how you would fit their names in with this name. Would it work?
Helena: LOVE this name. I think it is 100 times better than Helen.
And wdyt about those combos:
Louisa Mailin: They don't seem to fit together.
Emma Louise: Goes together really well, but the first name is popular, and I think the combo has probably been done hundreds of times before.
Kalea Lina (Lina would be the grandmother): This flows really well, almost so well it sounds like one name!
Helena Louise: This is beautiful. It is classic, but I am afraid some people will think classic=old. I think it is classic in a fresh new way (if you can understand that).
