Re: Nickname help
I'm from Australia too, and i remember in pre-primary i learnt the alphabet song and it went 'double-you, exe, why and zed'
and then on sesame street it went 'zee' and i was all confused...
the moral of this story is the I DONT THINK IT MATTERS AT ALL!
zed jay sucks, but zeejay is kewl, dont worry bout yor mum lol
and as for being australian, we have no culture of our own to speak of neway, besides thongs and stubbies, so adopting SOME american habits wont kill u.

& Not all Americans say ZEE anyways, people from the Pacific Northwest often say both (the influence of Canada, I guess). So go for it if you like, but its a horrible name in my opinion (sorry!!).

NO CULTURE?!My goodness, what rock are you hiding your head under? We Aussies have loads of culture, we're just a) pretty casual about it and b) so steeped in it that we're not aware of it.I don't think anyone who spells cool 'kewl' can have much to say about culture, anyway.

OT questionWhat are thongs and stubbies?

Thongs are "flip-flops" shoes which are basically a sole held on with straps which sit between the big toe and the second toe. (I'm sure you know what I mean!)Stubbies are either a particular size of beer bottle or a type of very short shorts (clothes). Both reflect minor elements of Australian culture.
