I don't mind it in theory, but as I'm sure other posters have mentioned it's unusable because of its association with urine, urinal, etc. :-/ Btw, did you mean mn when you asked what nn would go well with it? I can't imagine Uri would need a nn. U maybe? :b

I like it pronounced oo-ree. Uri Pual is nice, but I think Uri could stand for a more substantial middle name.

It's an OK name. It doesn't really have a wow factor for me. I prefer the Yuri spelling; Uri leaves too much room for "URIne" jokes. That's just my view.In middle school, I had a class with a girl named Yuri (this spelling: feminine, Japanese "lily"; masculine, Russian/Ukrainian form of George). I'm not sure of her ethnic background, but, more generally, she was Latina.

When I first saw it, I thought Urine... sorry. Not a fam at all.

For the kid's sake...No. Urine may not be the first thing to cross your mind, but it will be the first thing to cross other kids' minds (and not only the mean ones.)

Does Yuri leave a more favorable impression?I think I still prefer Uri. I don't immediately think urine, so that doesn't bother me.

Yuri is a little better, but still has the "uri(ne)" sound. And just because you don't 'immediately think urine' doesn't mean that 95% of the people that meet your child won't think it. :-/

I do like Uriah (yoor-EYE-ah), I admit, but Uri only brings to mind one thing, and that's urine. I knew brothers named Uria (prn. same as Uriah) and Matthia (prn. same as Matthiah), and I always thought their names were awesome. They liked them, too, so all was good. :DYuriy Paul seems like it'd be a safer choice to me, but either way, the sound flows.Array
