I don't like this name at all. It sounds to similar to emma, and Emily. Can you imagine Em or Emmy on a boy? *shivers*

My 2nd oldest son is Emmett, so I'm quite partial to the name. When my DH and I started discussing names, I was thinking about names like Garrett or Bennett, but DH liked Emmett and it was a family name, so kido number two was Emmett. I'm really glad we went with Emmett, it's a very solid name and it doesn't sound trendy at all. I know of two other boys named Emmett, so I think it's one of those names that is getting more popular in certain areas, but still not uber popular that it's trendy. It's very much a guy's name, and the associated with Emmitt Smith the football player helps.

I like it. Really cute and old-fashioned, yet refreshing.

Dislike it.Sorry, but to be honest I just don't get why this name is so popular at the moment. It does absolutely nothing for me. It sounds like a weak attempt to masculinise the ever-popular Emma/Emily.

I like it well enough, though it's a bit soft for my own taste. Check out http://thebabynamewizard.ivillage.com/parenting/ for an interesting analysis of the name's trendiness.

The other names they mentioned in that article seem trendy to me, but not Emmett. And Emmitt Smith spells his name differently. I don't even think of him in connection with the name Emmett. I love it, I don't find it feminine at all. And definitely not trendy--at least not yet.

I like it! It makes me think of a refreshingly clean-cut young man. Hmmm . . . I think I'd like to marry an Emmett.

I don't mind it at all. It's something different, without being horrible!

With the -ett ending, it sounds a bit too feminine to me.It could seriously grow on me, though. It's not a very strange name.
