Re: Irish and Sweddish names
in reply to a message by Emma
None of those names are Irish. Catherine is common in Ireland and Kaitlyn is a horribly creative spelling of the Irish Caitlin, and Emma is not even remotely Irish.
Anyway...some of my favourite Irish names (and most of my favourite names are Irish) are:
Girls-
Caoimhe (kee-va)
Siobhan (shi-vawn)
Saoirse (seer-sha)
Aoibheann (ee-van)
Norah
Niamh (neev)
Eimear (my little sister's name, ee-mer)
Aoife (my big sister's name, ee-fa)
Aisling (ash-ling or ash-lin)
Eibhlin (ave-leen)
Aine (my name, awn-ya)
Eilis (my mn, ay-lish)
Orla
Bridget
Brigid
Maeve
Maura
Siofra (sho-fra)
Boys-
Connor
Aonghus
Torin
Aodhan (aidan)
Tadhg (tie-g)
Sean
Seamus
Cormac
Daithi
Declan
Dermot
Eamonn
Fionn
Malachy
