Really like it! It's on my PNL. :-)

I'm ambivalent about this name. My cousin named her daughter this (not that I have any qualms about it; I don't) and concidering that it stems from Irish "Dubhshláine" (doo-HLAH-nya), which means "black challenge/defiance", it is rather ironic for a demure, fair-haired girl.

It sounds like a surname and isn't very girly or pretty imho...

I was thinking of Delaney yesterday, and I like it. It's cute and has a nice sound to it.

I don't like it because it has a very whiny, nasal sound.

It's okay. It still sounds really surnamey to me but a friend of mine named her daughter Delaney two years ago and it has grown on me. Delaney's sister is Mackenzie-they fit well together I think.

I quite like it.

It's a last name, not a first name, in my opinion.

It's one of the few surname names I like on a girl. It sounds a bit too cutesy for my taste, but I think it has a nice, pretty sound.

I like the sound of Delaney but I hate surnames as fns unless they have family significance. It is so tacky.

I like Delaney! It's much better for a girl ! :)

Delaney is not a favourite of mine. And I think it is better suited for a boy.

http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=416090&board=baby(you might be interested in that old thread)Almost always, familiar surnames as girls' given names turn me off. Delaney's no exception, although it does sound nice.
