Kirsten
What do you think of the name Kirsten (pronounced Keer-sten)? Believe it or not, this is one of my long-time favorites. A couple of years ago this is what I had wanted to name my first daughter. It has fallen back some on me, but I still like it. Kirsten seems like it would also make a good middle name to me (a good replacement from so many of the other filler girl's middle names).

Kirsten is the name of my friend who named her poor daughter Ryan, and the name of at least three people I went to high school with in California (two of them pronounced it Keersten, one Kursten). I hated it back then, because I was habituated (read: another five or six classmates) to Kristen/Kristin, and the similarity confused me. But now I like it.
As a mn, I don't know - it's a strong, striking name and would need a stronger fn, I think.

I like it! Pronounced Keer-sten only...the problem is that so many people say Kerr-sten. Maybe Kiersten is a better spelling.
This wasn't originally a boys' name, was it?

I have never heard anywhere about Kirsten originally being a boy's name. Where did you learn that it was such? This site shows it as only a female name. I would be really interested to learn that.
I never heard that it was, I just know that Kersten and Kirsten are surnames so thought maybe it was originally male...
You're the expert though, lol.

I think it's quite nice and has a lot of character. It's well-known but not too common. My only concern (and it's a minor one) is that people may want to prn it ker-sten instead of keer-sten. The spelling Kiersten may alleviate this a bit.
I like it...
Kirsten's the name of the baby daughter of a cool teacher at my school. I saw her at the football game on Friday, and she is the most adorable baby ever (though I usually say that about all babies. But she is really cute.)
Also, it's nice to see Kirsten instead of Kristen, which is so tired IMO. And the sound is much prettier. :)

I think it's pretty but I've always preferred Kristen.
Umm....It's okay. I know a Tessa Kirsten, but I don't like that combo personally.
