I personally wouldn't use either one, but I had to choose, I would pick Kaitlyn (not with this spelling though). I prefer plain old Caitlin, but the name is overused and trendy regardless of spelling. As for Katherine, I have never liked it to be honest. It just seems very overused and boring to me.
Emma Kaitlyn and Anna Kaitlyn seem very dull to me.

I actually like Kaitlyn better than Katherine because I have never liked the name Katherine. If I had to pick I would go with Caitlin (that spelling). I think because I hate hate hate the nn Kathy (sounds like catheter). Also Katherine reminds me of an older person. Although I am into old-fashioned names... I just never really liked Katherine.
Out of your combos I like Anna Kaitlyn the best because I really never liked Emma and it is way overpopular. Anna is somewhat popular, but it is a classic and simplistically beautiful.

Of your two combos, Anna Kaitlyn is the best. I like Katherine better than Kaitlyn though.
Kaitlyn (any spelling) is far too trendy for my tastes.
Katherine (prefer Katharine/Katharina) is a classic, timeless name; if somewhat overused.
Between the two I'd pick Katherine.

I think Katherine is much better than Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is trendy and dated and there are about a million different ways to spell it; Katherine is much less confusing and much more timeless.

I definately prefer Katherine - I think it's a beautiful name and in no way old-fashioned. I dislike Kaitlyn, but it's not terrible.

I used to dislike Kaitlyn in all of its variations and spellings. More recently, I like Caitlin, but in general the name is much too popular for me and will soon be very dated. Katherine, however, is beautiful and timeless.
Which name do you think is better?
Katherine, by far.
Are these better as first or middle names?
Kaitlyn/Caitlin is a first name to me, Katherine can be either. I love it as a name, but can't see myself with a little Katherine or a Katie, so I usually use it as a mn.
Does Kaitlyn sound too modern?
Not too modern, just too "80s and 90s." I guess what I mean is that it doesn't sound modern or trendy, but if I heard of a girl named Kaitlyn I would assume she was born in the 80s or 90s.
Is Katherine too old fashioned?
Not at all. Katherine has been popular consistently for decades.
What is your favorite spelling of each?
Caitlin and Catherine
What would be some good combos with each?
Caitlin Simone, Caitlin Jean, Caitlin Mariska or Marisol, Caitlin Maureen, Ramona Catherine, Catherine Louise, Catherine Maria.

I prefer Katharine nn Kitty to either, but if forced to choose between Kaitlyn and Katherine, I'd pick Katherine.
For one thing, you don't seem to be able to spell Kaitlyn the same way twice.

Not trying to hold back these feelings at all.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
